Good evening, my friends,
The shutters are down again and everything is back where it belongs. Alex went south, and we can’t say we’re sorry.
We had a nice trip to Houston, stayed in a two star motel the first night, and it lived down to its two stars - too noisy - no sleep.
The next morning at 7am, Carol reported for her eye operation, which went well. We moved out of the motel to a Holiday Inn Express - like moving from the moon to Earth - great room, and quiet!!
Carol was a little “flaky” from the anesthesia, so we decided not to try to do the book signings in Tomball.
Thursday, she went back to see the doctor who did the operation, and he rated her progress as “excellent” for the first day after. Now to put the correct eye drops in four times a day for weeks - that will be fun, but I have a schedule all laid out to keep us in synch.
It rained most of the way back, not bad, some heavy downpours that lasted a minute or two, but nothing really bad, and traffic was light.
We got home to no rain at all - time to get those shutters down and things put back out on the porch, patio, etc. I just finished that and was soaked with sweat when it began to pour down and did for quite some time last night. Today was rain off and on, but not a bad day at all.
I thought about asking to set up in the parking lot of our bank on Sunday and Monday, but had second thoughts about how that might affect Carol, so we’ll just wait.
But, GOOD NEWS for all of you in the Fort Worth area!! We have been cleared to set up at the NEX on Carswell Navel Air Station beginning 12 July and staying through 16 July. Come out and visit with us. I’ll have plenty of books for you to purchase and enjoy. Too bad my latest won’t make it in time, but it has been published and my proof copy is on its way to me. I’ll let you know when “The Texas Two Card Hold ‘em Heist” is ready for you to buy.
I’ll be busy tomorrow sending out E-mails to all those people who were in the 924th ARWg at Bergstrom and who now live around Fort Worth. We hope to see many of you during the week.
I fixed a big pot of veggie/beef soup for supper - too many hamburgers lately - time for a change! It was delicious.
While we were away, UPS delivered my two flagpoles and stands. I still haven’t unpacked them, but will iron my Texas flag - (it is wrinkled from being in a drawer), and see how it comes out. If not good, I’ll send it to the cleaners.
We will have a very military minded display for the Texas Book Festival and the week we’ll spend in Branson for the Veterans’ week. We hope to sell a ton of books.
Forgot to mention that our new van drove very well with all those boxes of books stacked in the rear. Of course, I didn’t get the best gas mileage with all that weight, but I thought it best to take them along in case Alex blew our roof off.
I guess that’s about it for tonight. Carol is doing well and I am very happy with the doctor’s report. Thanks for the prayers.
Until next time,
Vaya con Dias, my friends,
Karl & Carol
