A sunny day book signing in Portland, a scare from Carol, and other thoughts.

Good evening, my friends,

Yes, Carol gave me a good scare yesterday afternoon. We went to the doctor and he prescribed a new medicine, which Carol took about noon. Two hours later, she said she didn’t feel well. Then she started shaking all over and I couldn’t get her to communicate with me - she just sat there staring out into space. I thought she was having a heart attack!

But, it turned out to be a reaction to the medicine. I drove her over to the doctor’s, (which is only two blocks away), and they gave her a shot of Benadryl. That cleared up her breathing and shaking problems within 30 minutes. Needless to say, the medicine she took is now listed as being very bad for Carol.

After sleeping for 14 hours, she felt good enough to accompany me to the book signing in Portland today. It was a beautiful sunny day and we sold seven more copies of various novels, which was pretty good for the sparse crowd we had - spring break drives the young people to the beaches, not to Starbucks - but that’s okay - tomorrow we’ll get the Church crowd.

We met some fans who have bought all my novels and several new ones who are just getting acquainted with my writing. It was a nice day and we look forward to tomorrow.

On other news, we have decided to start sending my novels off to different cities and states for Library Book Festivals, in the hopes that some publishers, agents, movie personnel, librarians and other people in the book business will take note. We decided to begin with my latest novel, “Palmyra, Isle of Death”. The first festival we’ll enter is the one in San Antonio in April. I’ll let you know more about it when we get all the information.

The strange thing is; I had to send two copies of my novel to Buchanan, NY - go figure! Let’s see what interest, if any, this produces - then on to others in NY; Washington, DC; New Orleans; and perhaps Beijing, China and Frankfurt, Germany.
Wish me luck!

We’re beginning to receive orders through the mail in response to the mail out we did last week. Thanks to all of you who are ordering the newest novel, plus the others you missed. We’ll be looking for YOUR order soon.

On the person side, our granddaughter, Samantha, will be in San Antonio for spring break, so we are driving up to spend Wednesday with her.

Then, on Friday, we attend a celebration of two friends from church who married recently, plus, our son, Kris will arrive late Friday afternoon to spend the weekend with us and celebrate Carol’s birthday (March 16th) a little late.

It looks like a busy week ahead.

And, so, that’s about the news for tonight. Don’t forget to set your clocks AHEAD before you go to bed.

Until next time,
Vaya con Dias,
Karl & Carol
