A day at sea.

Good evening, friends and family,

Another aside for Nancy: I found a way to get emails out through my webmail on my website. I’ll contact Princess and Todd Hunter myself. Thanks.

Still no word on our luggage other than a vague promise that it WILL be in Casablanca. If not, I guess we’ll be buying a lot of clothes for Princess to pay for when we return and file a claim.

A very rough night again last night – we had high winds in La Goulette before we left, which caused large waves. We slept fairly well until about 2 a.m., when we seemed to lurch into waves. You could feel the ship rise up on each wave and then run down the back until the 8th one, which is always the largest. Then, it would crash into that one and we felt a shudder all through the ship that went on for a few seconds.

We did manage to sleep in until about 9 a.m. and then after breakfast we checked on our luggage and ordered formal wear for tonight. Carol got a nice three piece black outfit that fit very well. I got a full tuxedo and white shirt. The pants were a little tight, but we managed and looked rather elegant as one of our English tablemates remarked.

We decided not to make the show, as it was the same Scottish soprano from the other night. Instead I invested $20 on roulette and came away a $60 winner, so we can attempt to turn that into more tomorrow evening.

I’ve been tipping one particular waiter, Miko, very well – he now knows my first name and is eager to be our waiter. Tonight was the welcoming party of the Captain, and drinks were free. Miko brought us four doubles the first time, and four more singles before we left for dinner. What goes around, comes around!

So, it’s been a nice evening and time to retire again. Tomorrow evening we may be able to see Gibraltar as we pass by at 8 p.m., then head out into the Atlantic and down the African coast to Casablanca, and hopefully our luggage. Keep those fingers crossed.

Still no date for my first lecture, although I practiced it again today. Hopefully the following day. Lots of people are interested. Met a woman who has published 25 non-fiction books and wants to write a novel.

So, until next time, good night from the Mediterranean. It feels a little less rough tonight. Oh, for a good night’s sleep.

Via con Dias,
Karl & Carol
